You will get the most out of your visit to our office with Cerec Crowns. Most dental restorative methods require more than one visit to the dentist. This means that on the first visit, you get an injection of anesthesia, your tooth is prepared, an impression taken, and a temporary restoration (crown) applied to your tooth. Temporary crowns are notorious for coming out at the wrong time late at night or at a time when you can’t have it fixed immediately.

Then, to complete the procedure, you have to schedule a second appointment two or three weeks later, get numbed again and have the temporary pried off (if it hasn’t fallen off already), and finally a permanent crown is put into place.

Now you don’t have to go to the dentist twice. With CEREC, your crown is replaced in a single appointment. With the CEREC machine, we can create your crown in about an hour and generally, a temporary isn’t even required. We save you time and make the process of getting a crown much more convenient.

We have multiple whitening options for you to choose from, just ask us which option might be the best solution for you.

White dental fillings, or composite fillings, are becoming more and more popular for several reasons. To begin with, white fillings are more esthetically pleasing simply because they blend in with the tooth structure, whereas, amalgam (metal) fillings are very visible. Additionally, less tooth structure has to be removed often times resulting in a smaller filling compared to an amalgam filling. We will work with you to determine which option is best for you based on each unique case.

Along with the wave of a new found appreciation for asethetics in dentistry came more options for more natural looking restorations. Now, you are no longer limited to a choice of silver or gold for your restorations. Tooth colored restorations which blend much more naturally with the surrounding teeth allowing you to keep your natural smile. These restorations can be a mixture of glass and quartz, making them ideal for small to midsize restorations. Another added bonus to these restorations is that less tooth structure needs to be removed ultimately resulting in a smaller filling. Ask us about all of your options when receiving a restoration, we will be happy to explain the best option for your situation.

Think of implants as a perfect alternative to partials and dentures. For some people, dental implants offer the possibility of a smile that looks and feels natural. An implant is surgically placed below the gums over a series of appointments. Implants fuse to the jawbone and serve as a base for individual replacement teeth, bridges or a denture. Since the implant fuses to the bone, it offers stability that conventional dentures or bridges do not offer. It also offers a more secure fit than either of the older alternatives.

Porcelain veneers are small pieces of tooth-colored porcelain that have made a significant impact in esthetic options for you. Many popular “make-over” shows demonstrate how veneers can improve smiles – crooked teeth can be made straight, dark, stained teeth can be made bright and beautiful, short teeth can be made longer. Veneers made of porcelain resist staining, too, so they remain beautiful for many years. “Lumineers” are a brand of veneers that require minimal preparation of your natural teeth. You and your dentist can decide which type of veneers are appropriate for your new smile.

Your comfort is our top priority. We provide sedation to those patients seeking relaxation and to alleviate any fears associated with a procedure. What used to be referred to as “IV Conscious Sedation” is now commonly referred to IV Moderate Sedation. For those patients who are anxious and afraid about a trip to the dentist, IV sedation dentistry can help. Thousands of people put off their visit to the dentist because of their fears, but now you have a choice. You’ll be in a tranquil state of mind and have virtually no memory of your treatment once it’s complete. Don’t let fear keep you away; a healthy beautiful smile and the treatments to get you there are now more comfortable than ever.

The oral surgery we perform, here at Sunbury Plaza Dental, includes extractions, the removal of wisdom teeth, placement of implants and other services.
Wisdom teeth are great when they are healthy and properly positioned. Often, however, many people have problems that require their removal. When the jaw isn’t large enough to accommodate wisdom teeth, they can become impacted (unable to come in or misaligned). Wisdom teeth may grow sideways, emerge only part way from the gum or remain trapped beneath the gum and bone. Extraction of wisdom teeth is generally recommended when:

Wisdom teeth only partially erupt. This leaves an opening for bacteria to enter around the tooth and cause an infection. Pain, swelling, jaw stiffness and general illness can result.

There is a chance that poorly aligned wisdom teeth will damage adjacent teeth.
A cyst (fluid-filled sac) forms, destroying surrounding structures such as bone or tooth roots.

If you still have your wisdom teeth, ask us to check the health and positioning of your wisdom teeth. We may make a recommendation for removal or give you a clean bill of wisdom teeth health. If you have any other questions about implants and how they might improve your style, give us a call, we would love to discuss the options for you.

There are many reasons orthodontic treatment might be recommended but some of the more common reasons are bite correction, crowded teeth, irregularly spaced teeth, etc. Aside from the aesthetic benefits of undergoing orthodontic treatment, the longterm results mean a healthier mouth. If left untreated, chewing issues, speaking issues, loss of tooth enamel or problems with the jaw could be the end result. Again, if orthodontic treatment has been recommended to you, allow us to walk you through the process to help you understand exactly what is involved.

Laser dentistry is becoming more and more widely used merely because dentists are realizing the benefits lasers can provide. Lasers provide us with the most precision we can have at our fingertips. What this means to you is comfort and safety, decreased recovery time, more accurate diagnoses, and removal of less tooth structure during certain procedures, for example, simply because we have increased control and precision.

Shortening appointment times is another benefit to using lasers simply because we are able to work more efficiently while making sure your safety and comfort are always paramount.

Periodontics is a specialized branch of dentistry dealing with the structures that surround and support your teeth as well as the diseases and condition that affect them.

We are fortunate enough to have a periodontist, Dr. Ira Levenson, at our location for your convenience.
