Dr. Elizabeth Johnson is a native of Columbus, Ohio and is proud to be serving our local community. “Dr. Liz” has been involved in dentistry throughout her entire life. She assisted her dad, also an orthodontist, for several years during her youth. After high school, Dr. Liz received her Bachelor’s Degree from Miami University, followed by her doctorate at The Ohio State University. While at OSU, Dr. Liz received multiple distinctions and honors, as well as participated in a variety of organizations. She then practiced general dentistry for several years in Cincinnati before going on to complete her orthodontic training at OSU. This experience gave her invaluable knowledge in how to coordinate treatment involving multiple specialists and anticipating the needs of general dentists. Dr. Liz is also a Diplomat of the American Board of Orthodontics, which means that she has successfully completed a series of written and oral cased-based exams, a distinction that only a small percentage of orthodontic specialists have. In addition to her private practices, she also is on staff at Nationwide Children’s Hospital in the Craniofacial Clinic.
Dr. Liz is married to her dental school sweetheart, who practices both in Columbus and Cincinnati, OH. They have identical twin sons who are in the third grade and always on the run. Their canine companion is Nemo, a mixed-breed rescue dog that Dr. Liz picked up while in dental school. Together they enjoy exploring the local parks and businesses, taking trips, and spending time with friends. Dr. Liz loves to cook for her family, especially at the end of a long day when everyone needs a little more energy, whether it’s comfort food or something light. She finds that experimenting in the kitchen helps her to unwind….and she is thankful she has a very forgiving family for all of her culinary mishaps! She is also a big fan of working out, so at any given time you may find Dr. Liz on a run, weight lifting at the gym, or trying out a new yoga pose (a real challenge for this beginner!) If you want to know even more about Dr. Liz, ask her about her former crew days as a rower! After all this activity, however, she relishes time out with some books on psychology and religion.
